Modalités d'inscription : To qualify for training, your registration at the University of Grenoble must be up to date and your training request has to have been confirmed. In view of the limited number of places, it is unlikely that the trainer will be able accept you in the session if your name is not on the list of participants whose enrolment has been confirmed.

Objectifs :
Revision of the fundamental grammar points in order to express oneself in correct English.

Programme :
- Entry test to assess the weak points and define the priorities

- The verbal group:
• tenses
• phrasal verbs
• modal verbs
• passive voice
• interrogative and negative forms

- The noun group:
• plural of nouns
• articles
• place of adjectives and adverbs
• relative clauses

- Syntax
• prepositions
• link words

The content can be adapted according to the PhD students’ needs



Pré-requis :
The minimum pre-requisite level in English is B1+/B2. If you are not sure about your level, you can do the test at the link below :

Méthode pédagogique :
• 3-hour sessions in an equipped room
• Discussion face to face with a teacher specialized in teaching scientific English
• Alternating between theory and practice
• Group work to acquire functional skills in both oral and written scientific communication and a common lexis data base for all the PhD students
• Usage of digitalised resources
• Classroom equipped with a language laboratory and an interactive board for classes on campus
• Pairwork or groupwork for some activities
• Simulations and role-playing in the context of their research
• Usage of the pedagogical online platform as a resource bank
• Autonomy work outside class time using the digitalised resources from the platform
• Possibility of giving a presentation with personalised feedback
• Case studies based on various articles supplied by the PhD students
• Some examples of written production from PhD students can be given in order to check the standards studied in class.
