Objectifs :
• Raise awareness of the importance of science communication
• Allow the sharing of reflections and learning between workshop participants on the basis of their own previous experiences
• Inspire and encourage participants to engage in science communication activities

Programme :
This one-day workshop will investigate how science is communicated to non-expert audiences. This interactive workshop will discuss and reflect on what makes science communication successful and its different principles and methods. Through a series of supportive activities we will identify the various objectives of science communication and practice different communication modes.
This training is based on the trilogy “Discover / Play / Discuss” and participants can expect role play, simulation and discussion.
This training will be conducted in English and is designed for PhD students.

(The workshop will also include coffee-breaks in the morning and the afternoon)

Pré-requis :
Training reserved in priority for people who do not speak French (A French version of the training exists PA1.4 MDD 41 - Découvrir la médiation scientifique)

Méthode pédagogique :
Vanessa Mignan Jenkins is an independent trainer and social inclusion consultant for public engagement institutions. Over the past ten years, she has developed, implemented and evaluated educational and training programmes in science engagement, creativity and social justice at both the French and European levels. She has been an Honorary Research Associate of the Department of Science & Technology Studies at University College London since 2021.
