Objectifs :
The goal of the course is to prepare PhD students for their future career where grant writing will be an essential part of their life. The timing is chosen such that they can use the course to prepare Marie Curie postdoctoral fellowship applications.

Programme :
Day 1: Introduction, funding opportunities and success rates (Vanessa Demanoff / Cellule ingénierie de projet). Afternoon: presentation of the projects by the students (3 slides max), abstract. Day 2: The abstract. Why is the abstract so important. Each student will write a project abstract, present it and peer-review others. Afternoon: Jill Bargiel - writing style: how to write a convincing project application; what language to use and what to avoid. Day 3: the project, how to sell your project and be convincing / tips and tricks / the CV, important elements. Afternoon: gender, open science, ethics and access and benefit sharing (Vanessa Demanoff). Day 4: Students will write a three-page project and evaluate it (working in groups – peer evaluation), choice of host institution/skill transfer. Day 5: Tips and tricks, presentation and feedback on 3-page projects.
