Objectifs :
The objectives of the training is to give the keys to prepare oral and poster communication at conferences:
- Define the expectations and difficulties of the thesis
- Define the communication in conferences and the difficulties
- Organize the steps of preparation
- Identify good communication practices (oral/posters)
- Practice oral communication

Programme :
Session 1:
Choosing a scientific conference:
PhD students will be introduced to the concepts of academic scientific communication and the different contexts and challenges of conferences, as well as their choice.

Preparing for a scientific conference:
A large part of this session will be devoted to the preparation phase of communication. Particular attention will be paid to formulating the objective-research question-hypothesis. The various methods for structuring the content will then be discussed. Finally, the writing of abstracts will be discussed.

Session 2: Presentation
The attendee will be invited to give a 10-minute oral presentation or a poster under conference conditions. They will be assessed by the trainer and by their peers according to a defined grid given in advance. Each presentation will be the subject of an individual feedback sheet which will be sent to each participant.

Méthode pédagogique :
This course will be interactive with exchange of practice and group exercise.
The PhD students will be led to have a reflective practice to stimulate exchanges.
The training includes video material and a practical guide.
Formulation exercises (objectives, hypotheses, research questions...) and mind-mapping will be proposed.

The second training session will be dedicated to oral presentations of 10 minutes for which the PhD students will have to use the methods seen in the first session.
An individual feedback will be given to each participant by proposing ways of improvement.
