Mots clés : science communication, outreach, graphic design. Début de la formation : 2 avril 2026 Fin de la formation : 2 avril 2026 Date ouverture des inscriptions : 2 février 2026 Date fermeture des inscriptions : 23 mars 2026 Objectifs : At the end of the training, participants will be able to:
- Explain strengths and limits of graphic facilitation formats
- Describe actions carried out within the university or elsewhere, which can serve as a reference for new personal projects.
Programme : How can you use graphic facilitation (drawings, comics, graphic novels, etc.) to improve your science communication projects?
This training course will take the form of a one-hour webinar, online on the Zoom platform. It will address key questions to ask yourself before embarking on a science communication project and provide an opportunity to exchange ideas with experienced professionals on the subject. Through examples and experience sharing, we will look at the circumstances in which it is appropriate to use graphic facilitation to address audiences, and we will analyze the limitations and advantages of this format. The training will give you the opportunity to meet and talk with a research professional from the University of Bordeaux who has used this format, subject to their availability.
After a short introduction to frame the topic of the webinar and define what “graphic facilitation” is, PhD students will be able to discuss examples and share what they consider to be the strengths and limitations of these projects. These reflections will be guided and supplemented by the trainer. Then, based on these discussions and the questions they raise, we will talk to a scientist from the University of Bordeaux who uses graphic facilitation in their outreach projects or who has already participated in an initiative of this type, in order to better understand how they were implemented.
This training is offered and led by the team from the University of Bordeaux's “Science with and for Society” label.
Pré-requis : - To participate in the training, you must have a stable internet connection, be able to activate your microphone, and, if possible, be on a computer.
- Participation in the webinar “Issues and formats in science communication at the university” and “Leading a public scientifique workshop: guidelines and tips” is a plus, but not mandatory.
Equipe pédagogique : Victoire Hernandez, chargée de projet Science avec et pour la société (SAPS), université de Bordeaux
Méthode pédagogique : Interactive, participatory, and collaborative method.
The webinar is divided into a small group discussion phase, followed by a framing phase led by the trainer, and finally a discussion phase with a researcher who will have set up graphic facilitation activities.
Engaging in a discussion at the beginning of the training session allows PhD students to mobilize and verbalize their knowledge, making it easier to supplement and relate it to what is presented during the presentation phases and generate relevant questions and answers during the final phase.
The trainer will use Zoom's chat function to engage PhD students and encourage discussion.
